Ian Watt playing a Jazz Classical

The Jazz Classical is a relatively new model aimed at more than just the classical guitarist. Designed with a cut-away and the use of less conventional timbers this model is both refreshing and interesting. This model is basically the Realejo model with a cut away to allow easy access to the higher frets. It also has an extended fingerboard giving the player a 20th fret on the High E and B string. The soundboard is available in European Spruce, Sitka Spruce or Western Red Cedar. The back and sides are available in Yew, Flamed Maple, Flamed Swiss Pear, Claro Walnut, American Black Walnut, European Walnut or Indian Rosewood. Other timbers are available upon request.  Each guitar is fitted with a K&K pick up and is perfect for the classical player and the non classical player alike.

The guitar featured has English Yew back and sides and a European Spruce top. The fingerboard, bridge and bindings are old Brazilian Rosewood and the neck is Brazilian Cedar. The sound is bright and sweet with strong purring basses and bell like trebles. I am very impressed with the Yew as a tonewood and the aesthetic is beautiful in combination with the Rosewood.

The K&K pick up offers versatility with no loss to quality and opens up the nylon string guitar to genres other than Classical & Flamenco. Tuners are available in either Waverly or Rogers and each guitar comes in a Hiscox Liteflite hard case.

This guitar was the result of discussion with Irish Guitarist Mark Anthony McGrath who plays such an eclectic range of music that it defies any attempt to form a list.  Mark Anthony McGrath
The Realejo Cut-Away comes with a rubbed oil finish which both enriches the look and feel of the guitar but also the sound adding a velvet like tone to the mix. Other finishes are available upon request. Have a look at the short slideshow below to learn more.
